Legislative Priorities

California’s Regional Occupational Centers/Programs (ROC/Ps) are one of the longest-standing models of secondary and post-secondary Career Technical Education (CTE) providers. Our programs are regarded as an integral part of the state’s educational system. CTE prepares students to be career and college ready by providing core academic, employability, and technical, job-specific skills.

Research has shown that high school students who participate in CTE courses are much more engaged and graduate at higher rates than those students who do not take CTE.

ROC/Ps have begun to mobilize in an effort to educate all stakeholders on the importance of ROC/P/CTE and the positive impact it has on preparing students for post-secondary education and the workforce pipeline — ultimately leading to a stronger state economy.

CAROCP – The Association of Career and College Readiness Organizations – is focused on working with the Governor, the Legislature, and the California Department of Education to move ROC/Ps forward into the 22nd Century.  Together, we will develop a well-rounded, highly skilled future workforce and an even better California.
