The Hart District ROP partners with local businesses to allow students to complete internships in a variety of industries such as: culinary, orthopedic surgery, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, marketing, elementary school teaching, optometry, and audiology.

The objective of the ROP Internship class is to provide students the opportunity to complete an unpaid workplace internship and earn class credit. Students learn hands-on about a career field of their choice, allowing them to prepare for their future education and employment.

Interested students submit an application to the Hart District Career Development Coordinator who determines placements. Accepted students are required to interview with their internship site after receiving training on interview skills and business etiquette. If the company accepts the student, they start working 4-8 hours per week. Students must attend the pre-employment training and weekly classes with an instructor.
