Girls Exploring Technology, Science, Engineering and Technology (GetSet) is an extracurricular activity for female high school students, in the Tri-Valley, who are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers. GetSet is funded through Tri-Valley Regional Occupation Program and is run by the Career Education Specialists (CES) at each of the five Tri-Valley high schools. Each CES works to promote GetSet on their campus, recruit students for the program, oversee and chaperon events throughout the year. GetSet currently has over 200 students between the five high schools. The GetSet program usually runs from November – May. Each year includes a student and parent orientation, 4 field trips, 8 hands-on workshops, a networking event called Dinner with a Scientist and an evaluation party.

GetSet provides female students an opportunity to explore various careers and college majors with the STEM fields by participating in these events throughout the year. Each workshop is presented by a teacher at the local high school and the field trips are to local STEM companies/organizations. Field trips include hands-on activities, tours and information sessions with professionals currently in the field. The girls have the opportunity to visit one local college campus, per year. This gives the girls an opportunity to explore a local campus, talk with current students and professors, as well as visit different labs and buildings on campus.
