On October 14, 2013, Coastline ROP hosted UC Davis Professor Harry Cheng for a presentation entitled: STEM Education – Integrating Computing & Robotics into Algebra I & CTE courses. The two-day training event included 24 teachers from various high schools in Orange County including Computer Programming, Math, Science, and Digital Media Arts teachers.

The overall objective of the pilot project was to provide students with innovative learning opportunities and to encourage interest and exploration in the high-wage, high-growth Information Communications Technology (ICT) industry. The teachers will participate in a pilot project which will provide students with opportunities to learn computing, robotics, and math with LinkBots (small robots).

On May 17, 2014, student teams from participating schools will compete in Orange County’s first C-STEM Competition.
